As a member of the Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario, you will have access to the tools that will help you build your practice and grow in your career as an RMT. The RMTAO is the voice of the profession. We work to increase public access to the RMT services, RMT access the health profession and fair regulation for the massage therapy profession. We are devoted to representing and protecting your interests. Part of this involves advocating on behalf of all RMTs in Ontario. We dedicate time to protecting and advancing your interests while discussing crucial issues with agencies in government, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and insurance companies, which are just a few examples. This helps keep the profession strong.
As a member, we also help you to find the career opportunity that's right for you, whether you've just graduated or you have several years of experience, through our Career Opportunities Listing Service. You can also grow your business with a FREE listing on RMTFind - our public listing service. Members of the public can use RMTFind.com and search by name, city or postal code when they're looking for an RMT. You connect instantly with your fellow RMTs across Ontario by joining our Facebook group and participating in informative and thoughtful discussions. We also facilitate Community Networks across Ontario which provide the opportunity for Registered Massage Therapists to meet their fellow RMTs in their region and attend local events of interest including social, educational and networking events.
We constantly offer new and innovative courses on a variety of topics across Ontario. Our courses are open to non-members, but members get preferred rates. We've also recently begun to offer webinars, which are exclusive to RMTAO members. We also have an Education Conference once every two years, which features three days of continuing education sessions that can be customized to suit your learning needs.
You also have access to research-based information with our quarterly magazine Massage Therapy Today: Putting Knowledge Into Practice.You will have access to all of our other publications as a member as well, including The Friday File, a Contract Guide, Massage Therapy Brochures, and more!
As a Registered Massage Therapist you will need Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) and we offer the lowest PLI rate in Canada, which covers $3 million per incident. Additional coverage is available for acupuncture, ultrasound, office contents and legal expenses. This also includes Commercial General Liability Insurance at $3 million per incident. We also offer discounts on other insurance programs including home and auto insurance, health and dental insurance, l and personal disability insurance.
We offer a discounted membership to GoodLife fitness, which is pro-rated quarterly. For your workwear needs, members are able to access a discount on in-store purchases from Mark's. Members can also sign up for Perkopolis, which offers access to various discounted products and services including hotels, attractions, movies, shopping and travel. Members also receive access to discounted mobile rates and services with TELUS Mobility.
We provide our members with information and resources regarding the profession of massage therapy, the role of massage therapists, trends in the profession and information regarding the association in our Research Library and Resource Centre. Some of the key resources include general health best practices, MVA resources and clinic procedure best practices. We also offer other helpful tools for your practice including our new RMT logo, and access to guidelines on things like Fraud Prevention and HST.
