Description of Event:

Module one kicks off this seven (7) part webinar series with an explanation of why financial literacy should be taken seriously and how it can affect every aspect of our lives.

HST will be dealt with in-depth. Participants will learn what HST is, how to register for HST, the benefits of registering for HST, the mandatory requirements when are you are registered and how HST is directly related to your personal finances.

We will also cover PAYE (Pay As You Earn). Participants will learn how to figure out how much they should put aside every month for taxes, and where they should put it. Participants will also learn tips on how to communicate with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as well as how to set up MY ACCOUNT.

The facilitator will present some real-life case studies to help participants understand they are not alone and see the real-life consequences of not being financially literate and not meeting their legal financial requirements as an RMT.

Participants will be given a handout with the key facts of the module as well as practical homework.

This webinar will be recorded, and participants will have access to the recording until Tuesday, May 23, 2019. If you are not able to attend the live presentation, you can view the recording as many times as you like once the live presentation has concluded.

Speaker Bio(s):

Pamela George is a Financial Literacy and Credit Counsellor who believes that her life’s work is to empower her clients to take ownership of their finances. She takes pride in offering unbiased and impartial advice on matters regarding personal finance. Pamela is able to do this because she works for you, her client.

Pamela’s main goal is to help her clients stop stressing about money and to start living their dreams.

Prior to starting her own business, Pamela worked as a Credit Counsellor for a credit counselling agency and as a Financial Aid Officer with a post-secondary institution. Pamela is an Accredited Financial Counsellor of Canada (AFCC) and a member of the Association of Financial Counselling, Planning and Education (AFCPE).

Pamela is also the author of Three Little Piggybanks-Financial Literacy for Children.
