Active Members who decide to take parental leave from their practice will remain an Active Member of the RMTAO until the end of their membership year in which it was taken. According to RMTAO Bylaws, members shall not be entitled to any refund or credit of membership dues paid
As an Active Member on parental leave, at the conclusion of the membership year in which leave is taken shall automatically, with no application and with no fee paid, have their membership converted to an Associate Member, with all rights and duties as per that membership category, up to a maximum point of 12 months from the date at which leave was initially taken. An extension may be granted for up to an additional 12 months, upon request of the member.
If you are insured by the RMTAO, the insurance premium is 100% retained by the RMTAO, although the policy itself will be cancelled.
When returning to Active membership, provided you have remained an Associate member without interruption, you may become an Active Member at a fee prorated in accordance with RMTAO policies at the start of the nearest month of return to duty. Insurance shall also be prorated as available in accordance with the terms and conditions imposed by the Underwriter.
**If you wish to avail yourself of any provision in the RMTAO policy, you may do so by request in writing, either by letter, fax, or e-mail to the RMTAO office. Any changes to a member's status under this policy shall be noted in the profile notes on the membership database.
The RMTAO exists in order to advance the massage therapy profession in Ontario. Improvements in the ability of Registered Massage Therapists to provide quality care will improve the health of the people of Ontario whom the profession serves.
